Zimilate is a new content collection and organizing tool that allows you to create Pinterest-like boards containing files of any kind, documents, PDFs, newly created text notes as well as images and full web pages that can be easily captured with a dedicated bookmarklet/extension.


Content items can be tagged, manually ordered and collected into "spheres", which can be set to be "private" or public.


It's very easy to drag and drop items from one collection to another and to re-order items in any way you want.


Team collaborators can be invited to contribute content to any of your collections.


All contents collected in Zimilate are fully searchable.


Zimilate is a powerful content curation app, similar to Pinterest but with added functionalties (more content types supported and powerful web page capturing) and more flexibility (reordering of items in a collection) which make it a potentially valuable alternative. At the same time, since it is so new, it lacks Pinterest core feature that allows you to easily select any image from a web page and to pin it to a board. With Zimilate, for now you need to click and save the image and then import it.

It's maybe look a bit like Pinterest but it's not. It's seems a lot better and if you think a bit creative i'm sure you will spot that it's very usefully. You both have a public and a Private sphere and you can have collaborators, students, friends, co. workers or maybe even a closed membership site where you can share files, webpages and whatever you like. 

Click and check it out. It sure looks good to me.

Otra nueva aplicación en fase beta para la Content Curation que te permite seleccionar, organizar y buscar cualquier contenido (texto, imagen, vídeo) de la Web para después organizarlo en colecciones o listas creadas por ti mismo o por colaboradores o amigos añadidos por ti.

Robin Good: Thanks to the guys behind Mind42 and SimpleMeet.me who created a new kind of collection, gathering and curation space, that looks like at first, as an infinite cork board on which you can stick anything. 


"Each board is an infinite space which resembles a virtual cork board - hence the default cork background, but other backgrounds are available.


On these boards, items can be put.


Currently Spaaze offers 7 different items:

  • Labels
  • Notes
  • Bookmarks
  • Images
  • Files
  • Videos and
  • HTML.


These items can be edited in place, moved via drag and drop and positioned freely on the board.

To add some structure to the board it's possible to "remember" certain points (around which items have been placed) by creating hotspots (e.g. one per topic of a bookmark collection)."


Spaaze is also a collaborative service, allowing board owners to invite others to collaborate and contribute to any specific board.


Spaaze works across all browsers (IE7+, FF4+, Safari4+, Chrome) and on the iPad too.


The basic service is free, but to use it without any kind of limitation it requires buying credit points or activating a very inexpensive ($3/mo) subscription.

Favebucket is a web app which allows you to easily clip any web page, video or content and to organize according to categories (buckets) and tags.


An integrated bookmarklet makes it easy to clip any content on any web page, while suggesting relevant tags and the option to add each item to a bucket (collection).


Individual contents saved with Favebucket can be easily shared on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.


Organization of tags and buckets, search and navigation are extremely effective.


In addition Favebucket is readying a series of utilities to import your bookmarks from other services. The first one supported is soon-to-be-closed Clipboard.com.



My comments: Navigation and search through the tags and buckets system is extremely effective and speedy allowing easy grouping and finding of related items.


The major limitation is that buckets (collections of items) cannot be easily embedded on another site or published publicly at a unique URL. 


Good for private curation and bookmarking work.

Herramienta que te permite guardar cualquier página web, vídeo o contenido y organizarlo en categorias y etiquetas, algo que resulta muy fácil gracias a su bookmarklet.

 

Además estos contenidos pueden ser facilmente compartidos en nuestras redes sociales favoritas (Facebook, Twitter...).

After having played around with this a little bit, I must say that I found the instructions a bit lacking. Matter of fact, I wrote them a 'customer service' email with my question and got no reply. In their instructions they show two steps but I could only intuitively find one. Furthermore, I hate it when companies don't think that their product to have a tutorial with an actual human voice but rather throw up some cute little video might get and award for cute music and animation but isn't worth crap to actually telling people how the damn thing works.

[UPDATE] Hi, we are happy to say that we have done extensive work on all the feedback we received from many people and the we will publish a series of releases in the upcoming week and thereafter to meet many [not all] of the expectations people have.

Even though we understand that some Favebucketeers miss functionality it is also fair to say that in this startup stage it is impossible to do everything at once. The upcoming release will deliver browser extensions and many other new features (like several import functions) and even more important, improvements that make Favebucket faster and even more stable.
