Rebecca Stirm Website

Rebecca Stirm Website | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Rebecca Stirm, who ruled the Mission Catwalk show, has launched her website.  It's simple, classy, and highlights her collection well.  Looks great, Rebecca!  Kudos to TAS Belize for the design.

"Rebecca continued on to design and show a second collection before re-locating to Vancouver in June 2011 to study fashion design and marketing at the Art Institute of Vancouver.  Shortly after her first semester at the Art Institutes, she applied and was accepted to compete in Mission Catwalk (Caribbean designer reality TV show) against 19 other Caribbean designers – for a chance to “Rule the Catwalk.”  At only 18 years old, she won the most challenges (4 out of 12) and came out the end of the season as second runner up. Rebecca continues to design collections & custom bridal gowns for clients from her home studio in Cayo District, Belize."

Rebecca Stirm Back to Boost Mission Catwalk

Rebecca Stirm Back to Boost Mission Catwalk | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Mission Catwalk needed a serious ratings boost, so they brought back Rebecca Stirm!  Stirm has won 4 of the competitions on the show, and by acting like they eliminated her, they set the stage for a totally scripted 'judges wild card.'  You can see tonight's episode at the UB auditorium tonight, courtesy of Plus TV and Divaz Next Door.

Good luck, Rebecca!  Goodbye, Mission Catwalk!

Rebecca Stirm Excels Again on Mission Catwalk

Rebecca Stirm Excels Again on Mission Catwalk | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

While she didn't win the competition on episode 5 of Mission Catwalk, she did score extremely high.

"The top scorers from last week’s challenge chose their group members for this week’s task.  Two-time challenge winner Rebecca Stirm of Belize, Janel Jolly of Jamaica and Janelle Forde who represents both Trinidad and Barbados were inspired by Victoria “Posh” Beckham...  Apart from Gregory, Ryan B and Rebecca earned top marks from the judges, while Keshon, Janelle and Kerin failed to impress.  It was ultimately Kerin, the episode 2 runner-up, who was eliminated."

Mission Catwalk episode 4 trailer

Rebecca Stirm isn't just on this trailer, she's the first designer that's interviewed.  It starts off like a horror movie: Blair Catwalk Project.  Was that skin on those sissors?  Stay alive...and good luck, Rebecca!

Most classic line ever in fashion: "I guess it's cute... it looks like a box of kleenex."  Way to call it like you see it!  This episode is a must see, and hopefully Rebecca will once again dazzle the judges.

Belizean making waves in Caribbean Fashion Design Competition

Belizean making waves in Caribbean Fashion Design Competition | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Rebecca Stirm, from Roaring Creek, is representing Belize in Mission Catwalk, a reality series that has designers from all over the Caribbean competing for a chance to show their designs during the London Fashion Week.  Rebecca has dazzled the judges so far, and won episode 2's competition, where she had a make a cultural piece, by creating a Mayan and Mestizo inspired dress.  She has already been invited to Caribbean Fashion Week.

We wish Rebecca the best of luck, although, luck has nothing to do with it.  If you'd like to help sponsor her for Caribbean Fashion Week, you can email her at rebeccastirm@gmail.com.  Rebecca is currently back in Belize, getting ready for the next competition, and she gave an interview to Channel 5.

“Oh my goodness, well at first when they took us to the Hope Gardens I was thinking that they would make us make something out of leaves; we’re all like freaking out. But when they walked out in those nightgowns, oh god, and then when they told us thirty minutes, oh god. That was stress and then like I didn’t get any trimmings or anything. I just had the scissors and the needle and just started cutting. It was rush, like as you started thirty minutes was done. It was so fast; everyone was worried about getting eliminated that day.”

The Fashion at Wedding Spectacular Featuring Rebecca Stirm

The Fashion at Wedding Spectacular Featuring Rebecca Stirm | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Best of luck to Rebecca Stirm and Chantae Guy, who are representing Belize in Jamaica at the Wyndham Wedding Spectacular this weekend.

"So I noticed that Rebecca Stirm will be one of the designers showing at Wedding Spectacular this weekend and I remember that name causing quite a buzz from the last season of Mission Catwalk, so I decided to click on over to her facebook page to get familiar.  I immediately liked what I saw! ... She seems very talented at draping, a skill that’s hard to get right.  I love this burgundy dress and the styling with the teal and I love the braiding on the green dress!  Couldn’t you see yourself in that for something formal?  How about your bridesmaids?"

Rebecca Stirm Wins Again on Mission Catwalk

Rebecca Stirm Wins Again on Mission Catwalk | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Rebecca Stirm has won for the fourth time on Mission Catwalk.  One of the 2 dresses she made this week was inspired by a turtle after a visit to the zoo.  Nice!

"After a visit to the Hope Zoo in St Andrew, the seven remaining contestants were instructed to design a gown for a charity gala and a second garment for a charity luncheon inspired by one animal from the zoo.  Stirm chose the turtle because it was 'an unusual and unique animal that people didn't already have preconceptions about what a dress inspired by that animal should look like,' she explains.  Using a patterned fabric, she created a gown with a dramatic neckline, and for the skirt created layers from circular cut-outs that mimic a turtle's shell.  For her second outfit the patterned fabric was more prominent and used for most of the blouse while creating a pencil skirt in a monotone beige."

Rebecca Stirm Wins Again!

Rebecca Stirm Wins Again! | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Rebecca Stirm garnered her 3rd win yesterday on the 6th episode of Jamaica's Mission Catwalk.  She won with a dress based upon the red ribbon signifying HIV/AIDS awareness.  Congratulations again, Rebecca!

Rebecca said, "I made an effort not to over-style and keep the emphasis on the neckline and HIV/AIDS awareness ribbon by sticking to a simple colour palette and styling with a pair of chunky studded earrings."

Guest judge, Dr. Sharlene Jarrett said, "Rebecca's chic interpretation allowed the red ribbon to be the focus without overpowering the design."

Rebecca Stirm wins again on Mission Catwalk

Rebecca Stirm wins again on Mission Catwalk | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Rebecca Stirm has done it again!!!  Out of 3 competitions, she has won twice, and been runner up the other time.  Way to go, Rebecca!  This time, she won with a design inspired from Cinderella Hats.

"When I saw the hats, I immediately knew which one I wanted to work with.  The lady-like peach hat had caught my eye.  In my original sketch for the piece, I had planned on doing a soft summer dress.  After looking around a bit though, and realizing that everyone else was doing dresses, I chose to do a blouse and pants."
