NICH had their Cultural Panel today.  Belize is a conservation leader in the region, and is known for rich culture, a 'cultural powerhouse' as they put it during the discussion.

The NCC is giving out 40 $1000 grants to celebrate the 40th birthday of Belize.  The September Innovative Grants Programme form looks easy to fill out.

"To celebrate the 40th birthday of Belize, the National Celebrations Commission has launched a September Innovative Grants Programme. Forty Belizeans will get the chance to receive $1000 in grant funds by submitting their ideas for a new, creative project or initiative.

Video of the month.  NICH has launched the Belize Living Heritage site.  The informative video covers the mission of the website in detail.  Many cultural events from all around Belize are on the website, and there are more to come.

The SISE HoC is having a stakeholder consultation on Wednesday, Fabruary 6th, at 6:30pm.  They are inviting anyone in the community, artist or not, who's interested in meeting with the new director and the NICH president.

In related news, the new exhibit was launched on Thursday, October 4th, and it's all about the sustainable summer camp that happened in Bullet Tree.

The September Celebrations 2018 theme is: Belize Da Fi Wi - Now and Forever, 8867.

"The National Celebration Commission is excited to announce the winning theme for the 2018 September Celebrations.
 
The competition was open to all Belizeans living at home or abroad.  Persons were encouraged to enter the competition with multiple entries which should not be more than ten (10) words. The winner receives a cash prize of $1000 and a Special Invitation to the Official Ceremonies during September. 

This year there were 196 themes submitted by 70 contestants.  The winning theme of the 2018 September Celebrations, in commemoration of the 220th Anniversary of the Battle of St. George’s Caye and the 37th Anniversary of Belize’s Independence, was submitted by Corozal resident Fernanda Tun."

The Archaeology Trailblazer program will be in July at the San Ignacio & Santa Elena House of Culture -NICH and June at the Benque House of Culture (NICH).  Belizeans 16 and older that are interested in culture and archaeology can join the program. Sign up using the qrc code on the fliers.

CACHE is having their 20th AGM next Thursday the 29th at the Benque House of Culture, and they are inviting anyone that wants to participate. The AGM will start at 730pm.

The National Institute of Culture and History is having a panel discussion this Wednesday at 1030am. The topic is: NICH @ 20: Advancing Culture & The Arts in Belize.

The Peace Corps is having a series of wellness workshops tomorrow at the SISE HoC.  They'll have everything from wellness seminars to nutritional cooking sessions to yoga classes.  Registration starts at 8:00am, and the fun begins at 9:00.  Thanks, Peace Corps!
