Apps o’ the Morning: Scrivener and Textilus

Now, Scrivener can also sync using rich text format (RTF) as well as plain text; but as Scrivener’s documentation notes, you pretty much need to use plain text on an iPad, because there are no editors that do rich text and will sync properly with Scrivener.

Except that now, there’s Textilus, a rich text editor that (in its paid version) syncs with DropBox and targets integration with Scrivener.

FrancoisMagnan's insight:

Textilus permet d"éditer ses écrits sur Ipad en liaison avec Scrivener.

Microsoft Surface with Windows 8 Pro Review: A Writer’s Perfect Companion? | StormHerald.com

Microsoft Surface with Windows 8 Pro Review: A Writer’s Perfect Companion? | StormHerald.com | Scrivener, lecture et écriture numérique | Scoop.it

"One of the issues with using a program like Scrivener is that it currently only exists as what Microsoft is calling a “Windows 7 app”, meaning it’s the version that exists on any previous version of Windows–it opens on the Desktop. This means that some of the interface items are small, but what it has going for it is that it works with the touchscreen just fine. The scroll bars and drop-down menus are large enough to manipulate with your finger, though tapping on specific documents or images in the Binder may be somewhat hit or miss, even though the Desktop has been sized to 150% of what you’re used to–a must for the Surface Pro’s 10-inch 1080p screen. The Cellar Door » The Vapour Trail of Scrivener for iOS

The Cellar Door » The Vapour Trail of Scrivener for iOS | Scrivener, lecture et écriture numérique | Scoop.it

We’re over halfway through 2014, so I wanted to give our users a quick update on the progress of the iOS version of Scrivener. We receive emails and forum posts daily asking how it is coming along, and because of how long it seems to have been in development, we’ve even had users assume that it has been abandoned (we’ve even been accused of lying about it being developed at all, but I promise that’s not the case, even if we have continually underestimated the time involved).

The short version – the “tl;dr” version as the cool kids say – is that we still expect it to be finished this year, but now very much doubt it will be released until next year (2015) because of the amount of testing we need to put it through before letting it loose on the world. Don’t misunderstand – we are closing in on the final stages of development right now. But these final stages can still take a while, and I’d rather tell users now, in the middle of August, that we might be pushing into 2015, rather than keep my fingers crossed that we can squeeze it into 2014 and then only announce a delay at the last minute when we realise we aren’t going to make our target.

Scrivener pour Ipad est annoncé pour 2015.
